A kinder perspective

September 19, 2023

My first thought with this post was to do something similar and cheap like the last one. Just write a sentence and hit publish, and the job is finished.

But then I took a step back and reflected on how that would make me feel. And I can honestly say that it wasn’t that great of a feeling. Not many one-liners have been uttered that have made a substantial impact on the world. Not that that’s the goal with every post, mind you. But it isn’t easy to look back on it with genuine pride.

However, The final reflection I landed on was not to be so judgemental with myself. Don’t measure whether what I could have done better. That list can be made infinite, depending on one’s definition of better.

Let’s stick with if it’s good or bad. Is it an excellent contribution to the world? Does it collectively raise the living standard of all living beings? It’s a pretty high bar to set for a blog in general. But it’d go far to say that it’s making someone’s life worse. This means baseline, we’re at neutral.

There is one thing that’s good with it. And that is its effect on my own limiting beliefs. Probably by several factors, but I can say that having this habit has a noticeable impact on my comfort with putting myself out there. Slowly but steadily, I’m taking control.

We’re all going to die, eventually. Let’s make a commitment to be on the team that makes the world better during the short time that we’re here. Let’s kick entropy’s ass.
